Yotsukaido [city] - Yotsukaido

Japanese: 四街道[市] - よつかいどう

A city located in the Shimousa Plateau in northern Chiba Prefecture. It was incorporated as a city in 1981. The city's name comes from the fact that the intersection of Narita Highway and Sakura Highway was called Yotsukaido. Since the early Meiji period, military facilities such as an army training ground have been located here, and the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force is still stationed there today. It is a rural area producing rice, wheat, sweet potatoes, and peanuts, but bordering the north of Chiba City, factories have been moving in since the 1960s, and housing development has been significant. The Sobu Main Line and the Higashi-Kanto Expressway run through the city. The city suffered damage in the Great East Japan Earthquake. 34.52 ^km2 . 86,726 people (2010).

千葉県北部，下総(しもうさ)台地にある市。1981年市制。市名は成田街道と佐倉街道の交差点を四街道と呼んだことに由来する。明治初期以来陸軍演習場など軍施設が置かれ，現在も陸上自衛隊が駐屯する。米麦，サツマイモ，ラッカセイを産する農村地区であるが，千葉市の北に接し，1960年代から工場進出，宅地化も著しい。総武本線，東関東自動車道が通じる。東日本大震災で，市内において被害が発生。34.52km²。８万6726人（2010）。
