Schwerin
The capital of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in northern Germany. An ancient city on the southwestern shore of Lake Schwerin. Industries such as food, lumber, and ship parts are based here. Founded by Henry the Lion in 1160, it prospered as the capital of the Duchy of Mecklenburg and the Duchy of Mecklenburg-Schwerin since 1358. Population: 91,264 (2012).
