A mountain range stretching from southwest to northeast in southwestern Germany, north of the upper reaches of the Danube. It has an elevation of 500 to 1,000 m. It is also called the Schwäbische Jura (Jura) because it is made of limestone from the Jurassic period of the Mesozoic era. The whole range forms a single cue, with a steep slope to the northwest that faces the Neckar Basin and a gentle slope to the southeast that faces the Danube. It stretches for about 220 km, crossing the Rhine in the southwest to the Jura Mountains in Switzerland and continuing to the Franconian Alps in the northeast. Water is scarce on the plateau, but there are abundant springs on the edges, which have been used to develop textile and machinery industries since ancient times.
