Japanese: 周易参同契 - しゅうえきさんどうけい

A Chinese text on alchemy (the secret art of creating an elixir of immortality). It has been passed down as the work of Wei Boyang of the Later Han Dynasty, but no one knows for sure. It is said that the Trinity theory, which seeks to give authority to alchemy (immortals) through the philosophies of the Book of Changes (Confucianism) and Laozi and Zhuangzi (Taoism), is behind it, but the text is full of mysteries and is not easy to understand. Until then it had not been studied much, but after the Song Dynasty it became highly valued by internal alchemists (those who seek to create elixir within the body) as the "King of the Ancient Alchemy Sutras."

中国の錬丹術(不死の薬を作る秘術)のテキスト。後漢の魏伯陽の著として伝承されてきたが，確かなことはわからない。《易》(儒)と老荘(道)の哲学によって丹道(仙)を権威づけようとする，三位一体(参同)説がその背後にあるといわれるが，文章はなぞにみちていて理解が容易ではない。それまではあまり研究されなかったが，宋以後，〈万古丹経の王〉として内丹家(体内で丹を錬成しようとする人々)からきわめて重んぜられた。
