Argillic horizon

Japanese: argillic horizon(英語表記)argillichorizon
Argillic horizon

...The process in which fine clay particles move from the surface of the soil profile in suspension in the seepage water without being chemically decomposed and accumulate in the lower layers. The area where clay accumulates is called the argillic horizon. For the residuization process to occur, it is necessary for the clay particles to disperse in the seepage water, and therefore it proceeds most strongly when the soil pH is between 6.5 and 5.5.
