Lebanese politician and lawyer. In French, he is called Camille Chamoun. He is a Maronite Christian. He was Minister of Finance in 1938, Minister of the Interior from 1943 to 1944, and representative to international organizations such as the United Nations and UNESCO from 1944 to 1946. In 1952, he forced President Houly to resign and became president, adopting pro-Western policies that led to the civil war in 1958. After stepping down as president in September 1958, he founded the pro-Western right-wing National Liberal Party (NLP). In the 1960s, he formed a tripartite alliance with the Phalangist Party and the National Bloc.

レバノンの政治家，弁護士。フランス語ではCamille Chamoun。マロン派キリスト教徒。1938年に蔵相，43‐44年に内相，44‐46年に国連，ユネスコなど国際機関への代表となる。52年ホウリー大統領を辞任においこみ，大統領となり，親欧米政策をとるが，これは58年内戦の原因となった。58年9月大統領退任後，親西欧右派の国民自由党(NLP)を結成。60年代にファランジスト党，ナショナル･ブロックと三者連合をつくる。
