Shimogamo [Hot Spring] - Shimogamo

Japanese: 下賀茂[温泉] - しもかも

This hot spring is located in Minamiizu Town, Kamo District, in the southeastern part of Shizuoka Prefecture. It is near the southern tip of the Izu Peninsula, and the spring sources are scattered in the countryside along the Aono River. The spring is saline and has a high temperature of 100°C, so it is used for greenhouse cultivation of melons and flowers. There are also greenhouses for the Shimogamo Tropical Botanical Garden, the Ministry of Health and Welfare's Medicinal Plant Cultivation Experiment Station, and the University of Tokyo's Arboriculture Research Institute.
