most-favoured-nation clause

Japanese: most-favoured-nation clause(英語表記)mostfavourednationclause
most-favoured-nation clause

In a bilateral treaty of commerce and navigation, one contracting party accords to the nationals of the other party treatment equivalent to that accorded to the nationals of the most favored third country (most-favored nation). This treatment is achieved by concluding a most-favored-nation clause in which the parties promise not to treat the other party in a manner less discriminatory than that of a third country. The matters in which most-favored-nation treatment is accorded are not necessarily the same for each treaty of commerce and navigation.
