In a bilateral treaty of commerce and navigation, one contracting party accords to the nationals of the other party treatment equivalent to that accorded to the nationals of the most favored third country (most-favored nation). This treatment is achieved by concluding a most-favored-nation clause in which the parties promise not to treat the other party in a manner less discriminatory than that of a third country.
