Omagasaki - Omagasaki

Japanese:
Omagasaki - Omagasaki
Also called "Oma." In the Heian period, this document was used at the Imperial Court during the ceremony for the appointment of officials, listing the names of the officials to be appointed. When listing the officials, the lines for those who were not appointed were left blank, and the space was filled in appropriately after the appointment, hence the name. Most were written in scrolls, and when the appointment was to be made, the minister writing the scroll would turn the scroll in front of the Emperor, read out the names of the people to be appointed, and add them one by one. When the scroll was finished, the date was written at the back, and after the Emperor had reviewed it, it was reprinted and handed over to the Shokei. In the Kamakura period, when a territory was divided into several people, the territory to be transferred and the names of the people to receive it were written in a single transfer letter, with the front and back blank. This was called Omajo because it resembled the Omasho.
