What is Islam?
Islam is a monotheistic religion founded in 610 by the Arab prophet Muhammad, and is a world religion with approximately 600 million followers, mainly in West Asia, Africa, the Indian subcontinent, and Southeast Asia. Its correct name in Arabic is "Islam," which means "absolute submission to the one God, Allah." Followers are called Muslims, which means "one who submits absolutely." Since Islam itself is the name of the religion, there is no need to call it Islam.
