Hatenashi Mountain Range - Hatenashi Sanmyaku

Japanese: 果無山脈 - はてなしさんみゃく

A mountain range stretching east-west for about 30km from central Wakayama Prefecture to the border between Wakayama and Nara Prefectures. It stretches east from Toraga Mine (790m) upstream of the Minabe River in southern Wakayama Prefecture, passing Wadanomori (1049m) and Andoyama (1184m) on the border with Nara Prefecture, before reaching the gorge of the Totsukawa River. The geology is mainly Mesozoic, and from Wadanomori eastwards there is a succession of flat mountain peaks at altitudes of 1000-1200m, with the highest peak at 1262m, about 3km east of Andoyama. It forms the headwaters of the Hidaka River, which flows west, and the Tonda River and Hiki River, which flow south. The Wakayama side of the mountain range is divided by this mountain range into the Hidaka region in the north and the Muro region in the south.

和歌山県中部から和歌山･奈良県境にかけて，全長約30kmにわたって東西方向に続く山脈。和歌山県南部（みなべ）川上流の虎ヶ峰(790m)から東へのび，奈良県境の和田ノ森(1049m)，安堵（あんど）山(1184m)を経て，十津川の峡谷部に達する。地質はおもに中生層で，和田ノ森から東では標高1000～1200mの山頂平たん面が連続しており，最高峰は安堵山の東約3kmの1262m。西流する日高川と南流する富田（とんだ）川，日置（ひき）川の水源地域をなし，この山脈を境にして和歌山県側は，北の日高地方と南の牟婁（むろ）地方に分けられる。
