Alphabet - Jibo

Japanese: 字母 - じぼ
Alphabet - Jibo

(1) A letter, such as in the alphabet or Hangul, which has consonants and vowels and writes syllables as a combination of these. Since it is a form of writing in which words can only be written by spelling out the letters together, each letter is called a jamo, meaning it is an element or basis of writing. It is incorrect to call a single kana character a jamo. A set of letters or typefaces with the same design, including symbols such as punctuation marks, is called a font.

(2) The Chinese Zhuyin alphabet is a symbol that divides a syllable into initial consonants and final consonants. In ancient Chinese rhyming, there were 36 types of initial consonants that were used as characters.

(3) A matrix used to cast the type used in letterpress printing. Depending on how it is made, it can be carved, electroplated, or stamped.
