Japanese: 追い証 - おいしょう

This refers to additional margin in margin trading of stocks. In margin trading of stocks, if an unrealized loss occurs in a position established on margin, it is compensated for from the margin. In addition, the substitute securities posted as margin may also fall in value, decreasing the collateral value. If this reduction in margin causes the margin maintenance ratio to fall below 20% (some securities companies set it at a higher level), the securities company will request that additional margin be posted (margin call) until the margin maintenance ratio recovers to 20%.

株の信用取引における追加委託保証金のこと。株の信用取引では、信用で建てているポジションで含み損が発生すると、それを委託保証金から補てんする。また、委託保証金として差し出されている代用有価証券も値下がりして担保価値が下がることがある。このような委託保証金の減少によって、委託保証金維持率が20%(証券会社によってはそれより高い水準に定められている)を切ると、委託保証金維持率が20%を回復するまで追加で委託保証金を差し出すこと(追い証)を証券会社から要求される。
