Shinoda's wife

Kojoruri (old Joruri). 5 sections. Author unknown. The 1674 (Enpo 2) edition by Tsuruya is old. It is a combination of the tale of Abe no Seimei, the Onmyo Hakase (scientist of Yin and Yang), the Kyogen "Konkuwai," and a repurposed version of the Kana-zoshi "Tsuru no Saushi." During the reign of Emperor Murakami, Yasuna, the son of Abe Yasuaki, who lived in Abeno, Settsu (Osaka Prefecture), avenged his father's death at the hands of Ishikawa Akuemon, married a fox, and lived near Shinoda Forest. When Abe Doji, the couple's son, discovered his true identity, the mother disappeared, leaving behind the song, "If you miss me, come and see me. I'll be grudge you the kuzu leaves in the Shinoda Forest in Izumi." The boy later takes on the name Abe no Seimei. Meanwhile, Ashiya Doman, a scholar of Yin-Yang, kills his younger brother Akuemon's enemy, Yasuna, but Seimei revives his father and the two of them enter the Imperial Palace, where Doman is beheaded. Seimei rises to prosperity as a scholar of astronomy and continues to prosper for generations to come. It later became one of the five Sekkyo, but no original Sekkyo Joruri remains. It is a masterpiece rich in variety, and is notable for being the driving force behind the creation of Takeda Izumo's later work, Ashiya Doman Ouchi Kagami.

古浄瑠璃(こじょうるり)。5段。作者不明。1674年（延宝2）鶴屋(つるや)版の本が古い。陰陽博士(おんみょうはかせ)安倍晴明(あべのせいめい)の説話に狂言『こんくわい』が結合し、仮名草子『鶴のさうし』が転用されたものらしい。村上(むらかみ)天皇の御代(みよ)、摂津（大阪府）阿部野在住の阿部保明(やすあき)の子保名(やすな)は、父を石川悪右衛門(あくえもん)に殺されてその仇(あだ)を討ち、キツネと結婚して信田の森近くに住む。夫婦の子の阿部童子に母はその正体を知られ、「恋しくば尋ね来て見よ和泉(いずみ)なる信田の森のうらみ葛(くず)の葉」の歌を残して消える。のち童子は阿部晴明と名のる。一方の陰陽博士芦屋道満(あしやどうまん)は弟悪右衛門の敵保名を殺すが、晴明は父を蘇生(そせい)させ2人で禁裏へ参内、道満は首をはねられる。晴明は天文博士として出世し末代まで栄える。のち五説経の一つにもなったが、説経浄瑠璃の正本は残っていない。変化に富んだ名作で、のち竹田出雲(いずも)作『芦屋道満大内鑑(おおうちかがみ)』を生む原動力になったことが注目される。
