The ruins of the Western Zhou dynasty are located on the west bank of the Ling River in Chang'an County, Shaanxi Province, China. Excavations were carried out by the Institute of Archaeology, Chinese Academy of Sciences from 1955 to 1957, and 13 residential sites, 131 tombs, and 4 horse-drawn carriage pits from the Western Zhou period were discovered. In addition, the remains of a dwelling from the Later Han Dynasty and a tomb from the Tang Dynasty onwards were also found, but the main remains were from the Western Zhou dynasty. The Western Zhou burial sites were rectangular pit graves, and grave goods such as bronze tripods, lances, halberds, spears, arrowheads, axes, ceramic scepters, lances, cups, beans, bowls, cans, and jars have been excavated. The horse-drawn carriage pits are square or rectangular pits, and in the No. 2 horse-drawn carriage pit, a two-horse carriage and a four-horse carriage, as well as a human who had been buried with the deceased, were buried there. The horses were decorated with shell ornaments and bronze animal mask ornaments.

中国陝西省長安県のれい河西岸にある西周の遺跡。 1955～57年に中国科学院考古研究所によって発掘が行われ，西周時代に属する住居址 13基，墓葬 131基，車馬坑 4基が発見された。このほか，後漢の住居址，唐代以降の墓葬なども発掘されたが，おもな遺構は西周のものであった。西周の墓葬は，長方形の竪穴土壙墓で，青銅製の鼎，き，戈，矛，鏃，斧，陶製の鬲，き，盂，豆，碗，缶，壺などの副葬品が出土している。車馬坑は正方形または長方形の土壙で，2号車馬坑には，2頭立ての車と4頭立ての車，殉葬された人間などが埋められ，馬は貝飾り，大獣面銅飾りなどで飾られていた。
