Tengoren - Amagatari no Muraji

It originated from a song of thanksgiving at the Yamato Imperial Court's Daijosai banquet, when Amagatari no Muraji (not the immigrant Amagatari no Muraji), a tribal leader from Ama in Ise, led his tribe of Amagatari no Muraji and pledged allegiance to the emperor. It may have been performed by the court ladies who paid tribute to the court from Amagatari no Muraji, but it was turned into a court-style story and remains in the names of three songs in the Kojiki's section on Emperor Yuryaku. …
