Toyotsu [town] - Toyots
A former town in Miyako County, eastern Fukuoka Prefecture. It occupies the alluvial plains of the middle reaches of the Harai River. It was the site of the Buzen provincial capital. Rice is the main crop, but the town also produces vegetables, orchards, and livestock. The Heisei Chikuho Railway runs through the town, and many people commute to Kitakyushu City. In March 2006, it merged with Saigawa Town and Katsuyama Town in Kyoto County to become Miyako Town in Kyoto County. Area: 19.34 km2 . Population: 9,043 (2003).
