A type of seating equipment. A square mat with a mat core, cotton filling, covered with cloth, and bordered with brocade. "Masasuke Shozokusho" states, "The in is about three shaku long and wide on all four sides, with a red brocade border about four or five sun wide, and is lined on all four sides with Chinese twill or solid woven fabric attached to the inside of the border, with vertical seams and cotton filling inside, forming a lining." According to "Ruijyu Zoyosho," it is three shaku and five sun in size, with white twill on the inside, a five-sun border of Chinese brocade or Tokyo brocade around it, and purple silk on the back, and is called Karakinin or Tokyo brocade, respectively. The Tale of Genji (Hatsune) states that "the brocade of Tokyo in the Tang Dynasty was a magnificent sight," describing the relationship as being particularly glorious.
