Renqiu (English spelling)

Japanese: 任丘 - じんきゅう（英語表記）Rén qiū

A city in central Hebei Province, China. Population 720,000 (1994). Located southeast of Baiyangdian. The Jinzhong Canal runs through the city. Renqiu County was established in the Northern Qi dynasty, and was abolished in the Sui dynasty, but was revived during the Tang dynasty. There are many low-lying depressions, and redevelopment has been progressing since the liberation. It was once a rural area producing wheat, corn, sorghum, beans, and cotton, but oil extraction began in the 1970s and the Renqiu Oilfield was named. Together with the Tianjin Dagang Oilfield, it is also known as the North China Oilfield, and is home to the Beijing Petrochemical General Factory, with oil being sent to Nanjing and other places via pipeline.

中国，河北省中部の都市。人口72万(1994)。白洋淀南東方に位置する。冀中運河が市内を貫流する。北斉に任丘県が置かれ，隋は廃県としたが，唐代に復活した。低い窪地が多く，解放後改造が進んでいる。小麦，トウモロコシ，コーリャン，豆類，綿を産する農村地帯であったが，1970年代から石油の採掘がはじまり，任丘油田と命名された。天津の大港油田と合わせて，華北油田とも呼ばれ，北京石油化学総廠があり，パイプラインで南京などにも送られている。
