Automatic ticket gates

In railways and other transportation, the sale of tickets (ticket issuing), inspection and punching (ticket gates), and collection (ticket collection) are some of the main passenger service operations, and automated machines such as automatic ticket vending machines, ticket (including commuter pass) printing and issuing machines, automatic ticket gates, automatic fare-adjusted ticket vending machines, and fare-adjusted ticket printing and issuing machines have been put to practical use. The history of the introduction of these ticket issuing and issuing machines is long, with the first ticket vending machines being a manual entrance ticket vending machine at Tokyo Station of the Japanese National Railways (now JR) in 1929, and the first ticket gates being a turn-type ticket gate (using 10-sen cupronickel coins) when the subway opened between Ueno and Asakusa in December 1927.

鉄道などにおいて，旅客営業の主なる業務の一つである乗車券などの発売(出札)，検査･入鋏（にゆうきよう）(改札)および回収(集札)の業務を機械によって自動化すること。出札における自動券売機，乗車券(定期券を含む)印刷発行機，改札における自動改札機，自動精算券売機，精算券印刷発行機などの自動化機械が実用化されている。　これら出改札機械導入の歴史は古く，券売機は1929年国鉄(現JR)東京駅で手動式入場券券売機が，改札機は1927年12月上野～浅草間地下鉄開業時にターン型の改札機(10銭白銅貨使用)が使用されたのが最初である。
