Japanese: アオカミキリモドキ - あおかみきりもどき

An insect of the family Cerambycidae (illustration) in the order Coleoptera. It is found throughout Japan, as well as the Korean Peninsula and Sakhalin. The adult body is orange-yellow with green or golden-green elytra. Body length is 10-16 mm. They live relatively often on flat land, appearing from around May. They are most common around June, with males mainly flying in to lights. Their body fluids contain a toxic substance called cantharidin, which is known to cause blistering dermatitis. They lay milky-white, banana-shaped eggs that harden on the rotting wood of coniferous trees such as cedar from June to July.

甲虫目カミキリモドキ科の昆虫（イラスト）。日本全土のほか，朝鮮半島やサハリンにも分布する。成虫の体は橙黄色で上翅は緑色または金緑色。体長10～16mm。平地に比較的多く生息し，5月ごろから出現する。6月ごろにもっとも多く発生し，主として雄が灯火に飛来する。体液にカンタリジンと呼ばれる有毒物質を含み，この液による水泡性皮膚炎が知られている。6～7月ごろスギなどの針葉樹の朽木に乳白色でバナナ形の卵を固めて産みつける。
