Anodized Aluminum

A surface treatment method in which an aluminum product is electrolyzed in an oxalic acid solution using the anode, forming an oxide film on the surface, or the product thereof. It was developed by the RIKEN in the 1920s, and commercialized by a company under the RIKEN umbrella in 1927. It increases the corrosion resistance of aluminum and also has an aesthetic effect, so it is widely used on aluminum utensils such as pots, kettles, and lunch boxes. Treatment methods using chromic acid and sulfuric acid are also used.
