The term "earthquake engineering" was originally used as a translation of the English term "engineering seismology," but is now used to include earthquake-resistant engineering as well. The World Conference on Earthquake Engineering, an international conference held every four years since 1956 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 1906 San Francisco earthquake, and related international conferences present research results related to seismology and earthquake-resistant engineering. This conference is translated as the World Conference on Earthquake Engineering. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
