Born: April 21, 1920, Venice [Died] November 13, 1973. Darmstadt, Germany. Italian composer and conductor. Studied composition and conducting under GF Malipiero and H. Scherchen. In 1954, together with L. Berio, he founded the Electronic Music Studio at the Italian Radio Corporation in Milan. He was active as an avant-garde composer who combined lyricism with experimental techniques. Since 1967, he has been the principal conductor of the Darmstadt Chamber Orchestra, and since 1972, the Milan Radio Symphony Orchestra. His works include Serenata I (1946), Notturno for Tape (1956), and Oboe Concerto.
