A type of dried confectionery. It is made by adding white sugar and a small amount of salt to roasted glutinous rice flour, moistening it with starch syrup, kneading it, and putting it into a mold to harden it. Yukari (originally eelgrass, but perilla is used instead) is sprinkled on top for flavor. It is known as a specialty of Shiogama, Miyagi Prefecture.
