Sierra Morena Mountain Range (English spelling)

Japanese: シエラ･モレナ[山脈]（英語表記）Sierra Morena

A mountain range stretching 450 km east to west and 120 km north to south in the Andalusia region of southern Spain. It is bounded to the west by the Guadiana lowlands of Portugal, to the north by the La Mancha region in the southeastern Meseta of Spain, and to the south by the Guadalquivir lowlands of Andalusia. The geology consists of Palaeozoic strata and Precambrian crystalline schist and granite. When viewed from the Guadalquivir lowlands, it appears as a gentle plateau-like wall 500 to 1000 meters above sea level, but it has been dissected and has deep valleys. The more eastern the mountain range, the steeper it becomes.

スペイン南部，アンダルシア地方に東西約450km，南北120kmにわたって連なる山地。西はポルトガルのグアディアナ低地，北はスペインのメセタ南東部のラ･マンチャ地方，南はアンダルシアのグアダルキビル低地に囲まれる。地質は古生層や先カンブリア時代の結晶片岩や花コウ岩よりなる。グアダルキビル低地の方から見ると，標高500～1000mのゆるやかな高原状の壁のように見えるが，開析が進み，谷は深い。山地の東部ほど高峻になる。
