A fossil animal closely related to the Scyphozoa of the phylum Cnidaria. It lived from the Cambrian period of the Paleozoic to the Triassic or Jurassic period of the Mesozoic. It has a long, pyramidal chitinous shell with a square cross section. It has previously been classified as a mollusk or annelid, but today it is considered to be closely related to jellyfish (→ jellyfish).
