Kinwun Mingyi (English spelling)

Japanese: キンウン･ミンジー（英語表記）Kinwun Mingyi

1821‐1908
He was the Prime Minister of the Konbaung Dynasty of Burma and served both Kings Mindon and Thibaw. He was born in Min Thein Bin village, Salingyi County. His real name was Maung Kaung. He first served at Prince Mindon's residence in 1849, and after Mindon became King, he served as Secretary of the Senate, Governor of Ahlone District, Deputy Senator, and other positions. In 1867, he was appointed Commissioner of Customs and Border Guard. In 1871, he was promoted to Senator and was also appointed head of Burma's first European mission, visiting Britain, France, and Italy. He succeeded in concluding the Burma-France Treaty of Friendship, but failed to establish diplomatic relations with the British government.

コンバウン朝ビルマの宰相で，ミンドン，ティーボー両王に仕えた。サリンジー郡ミンタインビン村の出身。本名マウン･カウン。1849年王子ミンドンの邸に初めて出仕，ミンドンの国王就位後は，元老院の勅命係書記，アロン地方太守，副元老などを歴任，67年税関･国境警備担当長官に登用された。71年元老に抜擢され，同時にビルマ最初の訪欧使節団の団長に任命されて，イギリス，フランス，イタリア諸国を歴訪，ビルマ･フランス友好条約の締結に成功したが，イギリス政府との外交関係樹立には失敗した。
