This is the call sign (name) for the standard radio report that is continuously transmitted under the supervision of the Radio Research Laboratory of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of Japan. The transmitting point of this radio wave is the Nazaki Radio Transmitter Station (latitude 36°11′ north, longitude 139°51′ east) in Miwa-machi, Sarushima-gun, Ibaraki Prefecture, and the transmission frequencies are five waves of 2.5, 5, 8, 10, and 15 MHz, all of which are standard frequencies determined by the atomic frequency standard of the Radio Research Laboratory in Koganei-shi, Tokyo, with a frequency accuracy of one in 100 billion (1× 10-11 ). In addition to the signal every second and the standard frequency of 1000 Hz music every five minutes, these five waves also carry recognition signals (call signs, time announcements, etc.) in the form of amplitude modulation.
