Wilhelm Credner

1892‐1948
German geographer. Born in Greifswald as the son of geologist and geographer Rudolf. Initially aimed to study mining, but after the end of World War I he studied geography at the University of Greifswald and the University of Uppsala in Sweden, and then at the University of Heidelberg under A. Hettner. In 1924 he went on a research trip to Sweden, and published Landscape and Economy in Sweden (1925). From 1927 to 1931 he made research trips to Indochina and southern China. In 1931 he became a professor at the Nuremberg School of Business, and in 1932 he became a professor at the Technical University of Munich, where he continued his work.

ドイツの地理学者。地質学･地理学者ルドルフの子としてグライフスワルトに生まれる。初め鉱山学の研究を志したが，第1次世界大戦の終了後グライフスワルト大学，スウェーデンのウプサラ大学に，さらにハイデルベルク大学でA.ヘットナーについて地理学を学ぶ。1924年スウェーデンに調査旅行に出かけ，《スウェーデンにおける景観と経済》(1925)を発表。27‐31年にインドシナおよび中国南部に調査旅行に行く。31年ニュルンベルク商科大学教授，32年ミュンヘン工科大学教授となり，その活動を展開する。
