Hakuhodo is the second largest advertising agency in Japan and 11th largest in the world. Founded in 1895. Until World War II, the company focused on publishing advertising, but after the war it expanded its business and grew into a comprehensive advertising agency. Television advertising is the main source of revenue, accounting for 45% of sales. It has the Hakuhodo Life and Living Research Institute (established in 1981). In 2003, Hakuhodo DY Holdings, a joint holding company with Daiko and Yomiko Advertising, was established and Hakuhodo became a wholly owned subsidiary. Headquarters in Tokyo. Capital in 2011 was 10 billion yen, and sales for the fiscal year ending March 2011 were 936.4 billion yen. Sales breakdown (%) is advertising - Japan 97%, advertising - overseas 3.
