Pasig River (English spelling)

Japanese: パシグ[川]（英語表記）Pasig River

A river that crosses Manila from east to west in southern Luzon, Philippines. It originates at the northwest end of Lake Bay, merges with the Marikina River flowing from the north in Pasig town, and flows slowly through the city of Manila before flowing into Manila Bay. Although it is short at only 24 km long, it has a large amount of water and adds color to the landscape of Manila. The walled city of Intramuros during the Spanish era is located on the left bank of the river, and the current presidential palace is located 4 km from the mouth on the right bank. Pasig means river or sand bank in Pilipino.

フィリピン，ルソン島南部，マニラを東から西に横切る川。バイ湖の北西端に発し，途中パシグ町で北から流れてきたマリキナ川と合流，マニラの市街地をゆっくりと蛇行しながらマニラ湾に注ぐ。全長24kmと短いが水量は豊富で，マニラ市内の景観に色を添える。スペイン時代の城郭都市イントラムロスIntramurosは河口左岸に，現在の大統領宮殿は右岸の河口から4kmの地点にある。パシグとはピリピーノ語で川もしくは砂の堤防の意である。
