...The missionary activities of the Ise Oshi, who spread their teachings throughout the country after Kumano, became prominent after the Onin War, and their traces are particularly clear in Tosa during the Sengoku and Azuchi-Momoyama periods. In Zen Buddhism, Gyukoji Temple, founded by Muso Soseki, was the only temple in Tosa that was ranked as a temple among the various mountains under the Muromachi Shogunate's official temple system, and was the center of Tosa Zen culture.
