Ji-jiu-pian (English: Quick-return section)

Japanese: 急就篇 - きゅうしゅうへん（英語表記）Ji-jiu-pian

This is a textbook on characters said to have been written by Shi You (Shi You) in the late Western Han Dynasty in China. It is the oldest complete surviving textbook of its kind. Each phrase is made up of 3 to 7 characters, and the names of things and surnames are arranged in a rhyming manner to make them easy to recite. No duplicate characters are used, and it was created to help beginners with literacy. The name "kyuju" comes from the first two characters. The rhyme scheme is also a source for phonological history.

中国，前漢末の史游 (しゆう) の作と伝えられる文字教本。類書のうち完存する最古のもの。3～7字を1句として，物名や姓名などを，韻をふみ，口で唱えやすいように配列してある。同じ字は重複することなく，初心者の識字のためにつくられたもの。「急就」とはその初めの2字による。また，その押韻は音韻史の資料ともなっている。
