Died: May 31, 1665. Buried: Dutch painter from Haarlem. Son of the printmaker Jan. He moved to Haarlem with his father and joined the workshop of FP de Vrebber. In 1623 he joined the Guild of St. Luke in Haarlem. Known for his precise drawing and perspective techniques, he was one of the first painters to faithfully depict architecture. His representative works include "Interior of the Cathedral of St. Bavo in Haarlem" (1636) and "Old Town Hall of Amsterdam" (57), in the Rijksmuseum.

[Died] April 6, 1607, Assendelft Dutch printmaker and print publisher. Father of the painter Pieter. Studied under Jacob Gein II and Hendrik Goltzius. Known for his intricate copperplate engravings using the burin technique. Produced many copperplate prints based on paintings by the great masters. Many of his original copperplate prints were based on events in the Netherlands or historical allegories.

オランダの画家。版画家ヤンの子。父とともにハールレムに出て F.P.デ・フレッベルの工房に入り，1623年ハールレムの聖ルカ画家組合に加盟。精確なデッサンと遠近法によって知られ，建築物を忠実に描写した最初の画家の一人。代表作は『ハールレムの聖バフォ聖堂内部』 (1636) ，アムステルダム国立美術館蔵『アムステルダム旧市庁舎』 (57) など。

オランダの版画家，版画出版者。画家ピーテルの父。ヤコブ・ゲイン2世およびヘンドリク・ホルツィウスに学ぶ。ビュランの技法による精妙な銅版彫刻で知られる。巨匠たちの絵画作品をもとに多数の銅版画を制作。彼自身のオリジナル銅版画の主題の多くはネーデルラントの事件や歴史的アレゴリーを扱ったもの。
