…An encyclopedic thinker from Spain. His Spanish name was Raimundo Lulio, and his Catalan name was Ramón Lull. He was honored as Doctor Illuminatus because of his vast knowledge and piety. Born in Palma, Mallorca, as the son of a courtier, he lived a frivolous court life, but after falling in love with a married woman who had cancer, he realized the impermanence of the world, converted, and entered monastic life. When he was about 30 years old, he had a vision in which Christ appeared to him while he was practicing asceticism, and he realized that it was his divine mission to take up missionary work to convert Muslims and other non-believers, to establish an Oriental Language Institute to contribute to this, and to write the best book refuting non-believers. He lectured at universities and took missionary trips to North Africa (Tunis, Bouji, Algeria)…
