After Basho's death, the overly leisured style of haiku poetry of the Edo-za and the vulgar, flat style of the Mino and Ise schools were criticized, and as a result of the Basho-style revival movement that arose during the Meiwa and An'ei periods with the spirit of "return to Basho," haiku reached its peak around the Tenmei period (1780s). Representative haiku poets include Oshima Ryota (1718-1787), Kasha Hakuo, Miura Chora (1729-1780), Kato Kyodai (1732-1792), and Yosa Buson. → Related topics Shofu Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
