A method of diagnosing illnesses used in China. The three parts refer to the upper (face), middle (hands), and lower (feet) parts of the human body, each of which has three parts: heaven, earth, and man. The idea is to find the location and condition of illness by examining the pulses of a total of nine parts. This theory appears in the chapter on the Three Parts and Nine Perils of the Suwen (Huangdi Neijing), but it is unclear to what extent it was actually used, and it has not been used in later generations. Although it is called a pulse, it is difficult to call it a pure pulse rate, and the idea of meridians is also included. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
