A Tendai sect temple in Daisen Town, Tottori Prefecture. It is also written as Daisen-ji. Founded by Konren in the Nara period, Ennin enshrined a 18-foot-tall Jizo Bodhisattva and built the temple. Since the Middle Ages, it has flourished as a major training center for Shugendo. With the separation of Shinto and Buddhism during the Meiji Restoration, the main hall became the inner shrine of Ogamiyama Shrine, the Dainichi Hall was renamed Jizo Hall, and the temple name was abolished, but was later restored. The Amida Hall in Saimyoindani was built in the Kamakura period and houses three Hakuho Buddhas and a late Fujiwara period Amida Triad. →Related article Engyo-ji Temple | Mt.
