Three-person idiom - Sanninjogo

Japanese:
Three-person idiom - Sanninjogo
This was a joint critique of works by Mori Ogai, Koda Rohan, and Saito Ryokuu in issues 3-7 of the magazine Meshamashigusa (March-July 1896), edited by Mori Ogai. Following an introduction of the work by "Todori" (the head priest), pseudonyms such as "Hiiki" and "Sashide" provided critiques, making this the first anonymous roundtable literary critique. As authorities in the critical world at the time, they harshly criticized many works, but their critique of Higuchi Ichiyo's Takekurabe (issue 4) was famous for its rave reviews of the novel, which instantly raised her literary reputation.
