Sannan [town] - Sannan
A former town in Hikami County, central Hyogo Prefecture. Most of the area is mountainous, in the Sasayama River basin. The lumber and pulp industries are carried out here, and the town is known for its specialty, Tanba chestnuts. It also has a thriving medicinal herb cultivation and textile industry. Fishing equipment and disposable chopsticks are also produced here. The Fukuchiyama Line runs through the town, and the Kakogawa Line branches off here. In November 2004, it merged with the towns of Kashiwabara, Hikami, Aogaki, Kasuga, and Ichijima in Hikami County to become a city, Tamba City. 98.16 km2 . Population 13,708 (2003).
