Altan Tobchi

Japanese: アルタン･トプチ（英語表記）Altan Tobchi

Mongolian chronicle. Altan Topchi means "golden outline." There are several chronicles with the name Altan Topchi, but the two most famous are Altan Topchi, compiled in the first half of the 17th century by an unknown author, and Altan Topchi by Lobsang Danjin, compiled in the second half of the 17th century. The contents are the history of the royal lineages of India and Tibet, the Mongolian royal lineage centered around Genghis Khan, and Mongolia during the Ming Dynasty. Although it contains many legendary elements, it is a work comparable to The Origin of Mongolia (1662), and is a fundamental historical source on Mongolian history and society, especially from the 14th to 17th centuries.

モンゴルの年代記。アルタン･トプチとは〈黄金の概要〉の意。アルタン･トプチの名称を持つ年代記は数種類あるが，17世紀前半に編纂された著者不明の《アルタン･トプチ》と，17世紀後半に編纂された，ロプサン･ダンジンの《アルタン･トプチ》が有名である。内容はインド，チベットの王統，チンギス･ハーンを中心とするモンゴルの王統，明代モンゴルの歴史である。伝説的要素は多いが，《蒙古源流》(1662)と並ぶ作品で，とくに14～17世紀のモンゴルの歴史，社会に関する根本史料である。
