The basic principles for the construction of the People's Liberation Army of China. In Chinese, it is called "Three Major Rules and Eight Points to Note." When Mao Zedong established his base in Jinggangshan in October 1927, he established Three Major Rules and Six Points to Note (later amended to eight) and clarified the character of the army as "the people's army." The current Three Major Rules and Eight Points to Be Careful of were promulgated in October 1947 when the army was renamed the People's Liberation Army of China. The Three Major Rules are: (1) Follow commands in all actions; (2) Do not take anything from the public, not even a needle or a thread; (3) Make all captured goods public property. The Eight Points to Be Careful of are: (1) Use gentle language; (2) Buy and sell fairly; (3) Return what you borrow; (4) Pay for anything you break; (5) Do not hit or insult others; (6) Do not damage crops; (7) Do not make fun of women; and (8) Do not mistreat prisoners of war.

中国人民解放軍の建軍の基本原則。中国語は〈三大紀律八項注意〉。毛沢東は1927年10月井崗山に根拠地を定めるにあたって，三大規律六項注意(のちに八項に改める)を制定し，〈人民の軍隊〉たる性格を明確にした。現在の三大規律八項注意は47年10月中国人民解放軍と改称したときに公布されたもので，三大規律は，(1)いっさいの行動は指揮にしたがう，(2)大衆のものは針1本，糸1すじもとらない，(3)いっさいの捕獲品は公のものとする，八項注意は，(1)言葉づかいはおだやかに，(2)売り買いは公正に，(3)借りたものは返す，(4)こわしたものは弁償する，(5)人をなぐったり，ののしったりしない，(6)農作物をあらさない，(7)婦人をからかわない，(8)捕虜をいじめない，である。
