1891‐1994 French politician. Served as Minister of Public Works (1950-52) and Minister of Foreign Affairs (1955-56) during the Fourth Republic, and in particular made an effort to calm inflation as Prime Minister from March to December 1952. When the de Gaulle government was established in 1958, he joined the cabinet as Minister of Finance and promoted economic reform through a new economic policy known as the "Pinet-Ruieff Plan," but resigned from the cabinet in January 1960 due to policy disagreements with President de Gaulle and retired from the cabinet.
