Santa Ana (English spelling)
A city in southwestern California, USA. Population: 291,000 (1994). 55 km southeast of Los Angeles, facing the Santa Ana River. The town was founded in 1869 and developed as a trading center for the fertile agricultural (orange, chili pepper, sugar beet, etc.) region of the Santa Ana Valley, but since the 1940s industrialization and residential development have progressed. High-income earners and a low-income population, mainly of Mexican descent, coexist in the city. It has cultural facilities such as Santa Ana College and the Bowers Museum.

Located in the west of El Salvador, it is the country's second largest city. It has a population of 202,337 (1992). Its current name dates back to 1708. It is the country's center for coffee, tobacco, sugar cane, and other crops, and is close to Lake Coatepec, known as a summer resort. 16km to the west is Chalchuapa, known as the place where Guatemalan President JR Barrios died in battle (1885) and as the site of Indian ruins dating back to 5000 BC. Santa Anna [Antonio López de Santa Anna]

1794‐1876
Mexican soldier and president. During the transitional period from independence to the Reforma, he was a capable soldier, but as an opportunistic politician, his haphazard actions and bizarre travels determined the fate of Mexico. He became a soldier during the time of Hidalgo's uprising, and joined Iturbide's army to achieve independence, but overthrew him two years later. He also clashed with Victoria, the first president of the Republic. He became a national hero in the war with Spain in 1929. He was president 11 times from 1933, and attempted to centralize power, but often left practical matters to A. Bustamante and G. Farias.
