Secret Records of Mountain Astronomers - Sanso Hiroku

Japanese: 山相秘録 - さんそうひろく

This book on mining was originally written by Sato Genpaku (1674-1732, Fumaiken, Nobukage, grandfather of Sato Nobuhiro). It is thought to have been written in the first half of the 18th century. It is divided into sections on general discussion, gold mines, silver mines, copper mines, iron mines, lead mines, tin mines, mercury, and sulfur, and also includes an explanation of the Secret Records of Mountain Assumption in esoteric language, illustrations of the Secret Records of Mountain Assumption, a commentary on the illustrations of the Secret Records of Mountain Assumption, and illustrations of the Secret Records of Mountain Assumption. Nobukage, who was born in Kaizawa Village, Ogachi County, Dewa Province, became familiar with the mining science he learned from traveling around the country, and is considered one of the finest technical books of the Edo period. Along with Mine Law, which was also written by Nobukage about mine management, this is one of the most representative mining books of the Edo period.

佐藤元伯(1674‐1732。不昧軒，信景。佐藤信淵の祖父)原著の鉱山書。18世紀前半の作と考えられている。総論，金山，銀山，銅山，鉄山，鉛山，錫山，水銀，硫黄に分けられ，ほかに山相秘録隠語解，山相秘録図，山相秘録図附言，山相秘録図解を付してある。出羽国雄勝郡貝沢村に生まれた信景が，諸国を遍歴して精通した鉱山学の集大成で，江戸時代における技術書のもっともすぐれたものとされる。同じ信景が鉱山経営について著した《坑場法律》とともに江戸時代鉱山書の代表的著作である。
