A small kingdom that existed in northwest Tanzania, East Africa, near the mouth of the Kagera River on the west shore of Lake Victoria. The inhabitants were a branch of the Haya people. The Haya were a stratified tribe consisting of the Hima, a pastoralist people, and the Iru, an agriculturalist people, who migrated from the Bunyoro Kingdom to the north in the 14th and 15th centuries. In the early 17th century, the two sons of Igaba, a royal family of the Bunyoro Kingdom of the Babito dynasty, Ruhinda and Kibi, gained control of the Haya people, and Kiziba Kingdom was founded by Kibi, which became a vassal state of the Bunyoro Kingdom.
