Shanxi [Province] - Sansei

Japanese: 山西[省] - さんせい

A province in the western part of North China, China. Its abbreviated name is Jin. Its capital is Taiyuan. It occupies the Loess Plateau, with mountains in the east, plateaus in the north, and a basin in the southwest, and there are large regional differences in industry. It has a continental climate with little rainfall. Agricultural production is centered in the Fenshui River Basin, which produces sorghum, corn, wheat, cotton, and medicinal materials. The most abundant livestock products are wool and sheepskin, and coal (the largest reserves in the country), iron, gypsum, sulfur, and salt are abundant in mineral production. Modern industries include steel, machinery, cement, and spinning, while traditional industries include wine (Fenjiu), silk textiles, porcelain, and brushes and inks. There are two railways, Tongpu and Shitai, as well as various road routes. ^{The area is 156,300 km2} . Population: 35.01 million (2014).
