Kabuki actor. There were five generations. The stage name was Harimaya until the fourth generation. (1) First Generation (1779-1859 ∥ An'ei 8-Ansei 6) Born in Osaka, he became a disciple of Nakamura Utaemon III and was called Nakamura Shiho. In 1804 (Bunka 1) he changed his name to Utaroku. He excelled in female roles and was commonly known as "Kyosei Utaroku." (2) Second Generation The former name of Bando Shiuka II. (3) Third Generation (1849-1919 ∥ Kaei 2-Taisho 8) The third son of the first generation. Former names were Nakamura Yonekichi, Nakamura Umeeda, and Nakamura Tokizo. In 1873 (during the Tokizo era), he moved to Tokyo with his older brother and performed with Kawarazaki Gonnosuke (later Ichikawa Danjuro IX) but they did not agree on anything, and he moved from one medium-sized theater to another, becoming popular. 歌舞伎俳優。5世まである。屋号は4世まで播磨屋。(1)初世(1779‐1859∥安永8‐安政6) 大坂に生まれ,3世中村歌右衛門の門弟となり中村もしほといった。1804年(文化1)歌六と改名。女方をよくし,俗に〈傾城歌六〉の異名がある。(2)2世 2世坂東しうかの前名。(3)3世(1849‐1919∥嘉永2‐大正8) 初世の三男。前名中村米吉,中村梅枝,中村時蔵。1873年(時蔵時代)兄とともに上京,河原崎権之助(のちの9世市川団十郎)と一座したが意見が合わず,その後中芝居を転々として人気を博した。
