Richet (English spelling) Charles Robert Richet

French physiologist. Born in Paris. Graduated from the University of Paris in 1877, he became professor of physiology at the university in 1887. He attempted research into the physiology of nerves, respiration, muscles, liver function, and serum therapy. In 1888, he confirmed that injecting bacteria produces an immune system, and in 1890, he performed serum therapy for the first time. In 1913, he received the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for his research into the phenomenon of hypersensitivity.

フランスの生理学者。パリの生まれ。1877年パリ大学を卒業し、1887年にパリ大学生理学教授。神経、呼吸、筋肉などの生理や肝臓の機能、血清療法などに関する研究を試みた。1888年細菌を注射すると免疫体を生じることを確かめ、1890年初めて血清療法を行った。1913年「過敏性現象に関する研究」によりノーベル医学生理学賞を受けた。
